JCPenney has selected Bar Code Graphics to certify the logistics barcodes its suppliers ship with. Its distribution centers scan cartons automatically, so JCPenney expects 100% compliance.

You'll need to send a physical sample of each type of GS1-128 shipping label you use when shipping to JCPenney. Certification is mandatory for new and existing suppliers.

What Counts as a Ship Point?
A ship point is any location that ships product to JCPenney: your own warehouse or factory, a distribution center, or a third-party logistics provider shipping on your behalf. Each location prints its own labels, so each one has to be certified separately. If you ship from three locations, you certify three ship points.

GS1-128 Certification Process

Pre-Register

Enter your facility address, ship point information, contact details, and the label formats you plan to submit for testing.

Pay

Pay by credit card during registration for the fastest turnaround. Paying by check? Send it with your samples and allow one extra day.

Ship Your Samples

Print the submission form generated during registration and include it in the package with your physical test samples. The mailing address is provided on the submission form. Samples received without a submission form will not be processed.

Receive Your Results

Test results will be emailed to the primary contact provided during registration. Failed test results will include the corrections needed, barcode verification reports, and an image of the tested sample.

Samples that fail must be corrected and resubmitted, and each resubmission is charged the standard fee.
